Book Review: Stolen Girls: Survivors of Boko Haram Tell Their Story by Wolfgang Bauer

Did you know there is a very violent group called Boko Haram (meaning “Western education is forbidden”) in Nigeria kidnapping women and girls for the purpose of converting them to radical Islam? The Boko Haram refers to themselves as the “Group of People for Sunnah for the Preaching of Islam and Jihad.” Their goal is…

Today, I felt the nudge to pass on someone else’s blog article not only in hopes of bringing attention to the embedded and horrific abuse pointed out by the article’s author (and victim), but in hopes of encouraging you (especially if you are…

The Vagina Monologues by Eve Ensler is a poignant and witty collection of informal interviews, stories, and experiences related by women from all different walks of life celebrating female sexuality and bringing to light sexual violence against women. The book is hilarious, entertaining, poetic, at times jaw-dropping, and admonishing. As an unexpected success, The Vagina…

Want to Know What is Truly Creepy on Halloween? Street Harassment of Women, That’s What

It’s that time of year when all the goblins and ghosts and scary monsters come out of their holes. Some are utterly frightening and some are mildly irritating. It’s all pretty creepy if you ask me. But, what monsters am I referring to? Creepy men (yes, this blog is about creepy men, but stay with…

February Book Review: In the Body of the World by Eve Ensler

As a lifetime lover and student of literature and as an author myself, there are no words to describe Eve Ensler’s absolutely stunning, courageous, and profound book, In the Body of the World.  It is nothing less than a 21st-century original masterpiece! Ensler’s prose is so poignant, original, and raw; it will ignite the passion and fire in your…

I made a vegan quiche today: vegan meat crumbles at bottom with #justinc egg, onions, spinach, vegan mozzarella, mushrooms, and spices in a pie shell.
Dear Ruth, I Jumped Off the Pedestal Because of You
Lots of labor for Peter and I on this lovely Labor Day. We are harvesting what we could from the garden before the snow hits tomorrow. We decided to harvest some and cover the rest. Here is some of what we have. We will be freezing lots of it today. Anyone want any sunflowers?! I've never had so many beautiful sunflowers in my house at once!
We treated ourselves to a big breakfast this morning because... Why not?! Fruit salad, hash browns, pancakes, #JustEgg, #LightLifeBacon, and coffee from #OwlsNest in Franktown. #allveganeverything, #allcrueltyfree
Today's harvest. Happy Sat to everyone!
I was craving Mexican stew today! #allveganeverything
