Hi, I’m Vilma (aka Vilms). I am glad you’re here!

I’m a writer. I blog, write essays, and tell stories. I’m also an activist for human rights, women’s rights, animal rights, and more. Here, you will find articles that reflect those values.
I live near the Rocky Mountains in Colorado, a place I stumbled upon by accident.
This blog is about inspiring others to live their best lives in a world in peril.
Being authentic and doing your best to live your best life encourages others to do the same.
How we show up matters. The world is in disarray and needs people who are committed to positive, compassionate change. That begins with each of us. #kindnessmatters
Fun facts about me…
I’m originally from South America. English is my second language.
I once took a helicopter ride to the top of Mt. McKinley in Alaska. As an ambivert, I love to travel and explore.
Woodworking and gardening are my rejuvenation.
German Shepherds are my favorite dogs! I spent most of my childhood with my dog, Romi.
In another life, I’d own a vegan coffee shop by the sea.

On this website…
✍️ Here you will find articles about the human experience and life lessons, wellness and self-growth, current events and culture, creative living, and any other itch I have to scratch (my forte is writing on various subjects). I write about what inspires me, what needs to be said, what makes me cringe, and what I wish were different about the world. The words I write are inspired by an undeniable curiosity, a love of learning, and a commitment to doing my part in making the world kinder.
I value…
Authenticity. Being ourselves – in every sense of the word – is how we evolve.
Truth. Accepting what is rational, evidentiary, and demonstrable is how we improve the world.
Freedom. Without freedom for every person, society fails. (We are not there yet.)
Creativity. The desire to create is what drives human beings. We need to be allowed to express our creative nature, or we wither away.
Service. To be helpful and kind to others is what creates a sustainable and equitable society.
Veganism. All living beings want to live free from maltreatment or fear of death. Living a vegan lifestyle is kindness in action for the animals, the planet, and ourselves.
Education. The cornerstone of all the above is education. Without it, we remain selfish, create destructive systems, and commit deplorable acts.
My writing reflects all of the above values.

I geek out on…
📚 I’m into lots of things, but reading is probably number one! I write book reviews you can find here. Reviewing books helps me put them in perspective, remember them, follow their advice, and stew in their imparted knowledge. It also helps YOU learn about great books to read and helps other writers sell their creative musings.
Partner with me…
👐 I love to partner with others in making our world kinder. If you have an idea about how we could collaborate, or if you would like to hire me to write for you, shoot me a message.
In love and strength,
Vilma (aka Vilms)

This design is incredible! You definitely know how to keep a reader entertained. Between your wit and your videos, I was almost moved to start my own blog (well, almost…HaHa!) Excellent job. I really enjoyed what you had to say, and more than that, how you presented it. Too cool!
