Hi, I’m Vilma (aka Vilms). I am glad you’re here!
I’m a writer. I blog, write essays, copywrite, and tell stories. I’ve written a recipe e-book, have created and managed various websites, and freelance-write. Most of all, I love to create.
I live near the Rocky Mountains, and I obviously geek-out on writing.
My work is about inspiring others to live their best lives.
Being authentic and doing your best to live your best life encourages others to do the same.
How we show up matters. The world is in disarray and needs people who are committed to positive, compassionate change. That begins with each of us. #kindnessmatters
Fun facts about me…
- I’m originally from South America. English is my second language.

- German Shepherds are my favorite dogs! I spent most of my childhood with my dog, Romi.
- In another life, I’d own a vegan coffee shop by the sea.
- I started writing poems as a young teenager after reading Agatha Christie’s Postern of Fate. I knew then I would read and write for the rest of my life.
- One of my accomplishments is graduating summa cum laude from the University of Colorado in Writing.
On this website…
Here you will find articles about the human experience, wellness and self-growth, current events and culture, creative living, and about any other itch I have to scratch (my forte is writing on various subjects). I write about what inspires, what needs to be said, what makes me cringe, and what I wish were different about the world. The words I write are inspired by an undeniable curiosity, a love of learning, and a commitment to doing my part in making the world kinder.
Authenticity. Being ourselves – in every sense of the word – is how we evolve.
Truth. Accepting what is rational, evidentiary, and demonstrable is how we improve the world.
Freedom. Without freedom for every person, society fails. (We are not there yet.)
Creativity. The desire to create is what drives human beings. We need to be allowed to express our creative nature, or we wither away.
Service. To be helpful and kind to others is what creates a sustainable and equitable society.
Veganism. All living beings want to live and live free from maltreatment or fear of death. Living a vegan lifestyle is kindness in action for the animals, the planet, and ourselves.
Education. The cornerstone of all the above is education. Without it, we remain selfish, create destructive systems, and commit deplorable acts.
My writing reflects all of the above values.
In a former life…
✍️ For decades, I worked the 9 to 5 for corporations and small businesses in writing, management, customer service, travel consulting, and training roles. Although I started this blog in 2012, I decided to take the plunge and became a solopreneur and full-time writer in 2020 to recapture my soul and passion. Interested in hiring me to write for you? Like most people these days, I’m a “Jill” of more than one trade to make ends meet. In addition to this blog, I write stories, content, and copywriting pieces for the vegan and plant-based industries. 🍅 Visit Vegan Spirit Worldwide to learn more, see my portfolio, or hire me.
I also geek-out on…
📚 I’m into lots of things, but reading is probably number one! I write book reviews you can find here. Reviewing books helps me put them in perspective, remember them, follow their advice, and stew in their imparted knowledge. It also helps YOU learn about great books to read and helps other writers sell their creative musings.
I love to partner with others in making our world kinder. If you have an idea about how we could collaborate, shoot me a message.
Take a peek around this site, and live your best life and inspire others to do the same! That is what life is all about.
